STAFDA Show, Convention Takes Industry Pulse
Attendees agreed, "business is slow, very slow!" Exhibitors reported "we've had some excellent conversations and we're writing some business, but overall, the show is slow." In a world where some economists are calling "flat" an upward trend, the 32nd annual STAFDA convention reflected the overall mood of the industry as more than 4,000 registered attendees tried to make the most of a far less than positive situation.

Garlock Sealing Technologies promoted Bruce Stratton to product manager for its line of expansion joints. Stratton has worked for Garlock for six years, both in product engineering and manufacturing in its expansion joint operations. Previously he served as engineering manager for Alton Manufacturing, a tool and die manufacturer based in Rochester, N.Y.

Elco Construction Products Relocates Manufacturing and Engineering To Decorah, Iowa,
Elco Construction Products, a supplier of construction fastening technology, has announced that it has begun to transfer the manufacturing of its complete product line from Rockford, IL. To a facility on the Acument Global Technologies Decorah, Iowa, campus. Consolidating will enable Elco to make the Decorah facility Acument's North American Center of Excellence for construction fastener manufacturing. The transfer will be completed within two to three months. Acument Decorah plant has begun integrating some of the Elco production equipment into their factory.
