GISMO website available for summit registration
The Global Industrial Supply Marketing Organization (GIZMO) has announced that its website is ready to sign up registrants for its first Top Management Summit, slated for Nov. 19-22 in Chicago.

The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rosemont, IL, and will focus on doing business in a global market.
Kentec acquires First Coast Fasteners
Kentec, Inc., Snellville, GA, has purchased First Coast Fasteners, Jacksonville, FL. The new location is the first for the company in the Jacksonville area, but it joins a network of facilities in Orlando, Panama City Beach, Miami, Delray Beach, Jupiter and Port St. Lucie. Kentec operates in six Southeastern states, and the acquisition brings it to 21 contractor stores to go with its on-site sales force and its industrial and dealer division selling fasteners, tools and MRO supplies.
Ridge Tool expands distribution capacity
With the opening of the Ridgid North America distribution center in Cambridge, OH, Ridge Tool has expanded its capacity to stock and deliver products by 50 percent. The 125,000-square-foot facility was fully operational by the end of 2005.
"The new facility will streamline our distribution process and improve our ability to provide products when and where our distributor partners need them," says Mark Downie, vice president of sales for the Western Hemisphere.
Cal Poly breaks ground on Center for Construction Excellence
Cal Poly's college of architecture and environmental design in San Luis Obispo, CA has taken the first step toward opening a new center for construction excellence. The new facility, scheduled to be complete by the summer of 2008, will include a Simpson Strong-Tie materials demonstration lab. Simpson Strong-Tie, via its nearby Brea, CA facility, has been active in developing courses and training programs for the school — and donated $500,000 toward the new facility.
